About New London Accordion

My name is Spencer Jones. I'm a network engineer and Navy submarine reservist with 10 years of active duty and 3 years in the reserves. I've lived in New London since 2019, and I've been playing accordion for three years - though I've been playing stringed instruments (violin, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, guitar) for much longer.

I like the accordion because it's loud and fun. It also has incredible history, which is why I'm drawn to songs from different traditions - my favorites are what I call the "Songs of the North Atlantic" which include fishing, shanty, and Irish, followed by Russian and American folk, then lastly Italian and French tunes. (Regrettably I'm not very familiar with polka music. If anyone wants to teach me Polka, I'm all ears.) There's something about the accordion that connects to maritime and immigrant communities, and that feels right here in New London.

I started New London Accordion because I kept finding great vintage accordions that just needed some attention to be playable again. I'm not a professional restorer, but I know enough to be dangerous when it comes to accordion repair and maintenance. I focus on getting good instruments into playing condition at fair prices, whether that's through sales, simple repairs, or lessons for beginners.

I have a family and I'm happy to be doing this work. Accordions are unique instruments with deep roots in folk traditions, and they're perfectly suited to our corner of Connecticut. If you're looking for an affordable accordion, need basic repairs, or want to learn to play, I'd be glad to help.
